2024 Toyota RAV4 Prime in Framingham
2024 Toyota RAV4 Prime
Electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining popularity, but not everyone is ready to dive fully into
gasoline-free driving. Enter the plug-in hybrid (PHEV), an automobile category that offers all-electric
operation for short commutes and nearby errands, with a combustion engine for longer trips. The
five-seat RAV4 Prime crossover, one of the best-selling PHEVs, makes a strong case for this technology.
But there’s another benefit: robust performance. With a 0-to-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds, the RAV4 Prime
is the second-fastest vehicle in Toyota’s current lineup (the GR Supra roadster has top bragging
rights).
This page shares the details of the 2024 RAV4 Prime PHEV. Look for our other pages on
the conventionally powered RAV4 and the RAV4 Hybrid.

Trims and Powertrain
The two trim levels for the 2024 RAV4 Prime are the SE and XSE. They both rely on a plug-in gas-electric
hybrid powerplant made up of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and dual electric motors (one per axle),
which produce a combined 302 horsepower. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) controls the
standard all-wheel drive.
The RAV4 Prime is EPA-rated to provide up to 42 miles of electric-only
use before the gasoline engine kicks in; it carries an MPGe rating of 94. Once the fully electric
operation is exhausted, the vehicle operates as a hybrid and is estimated to get 40 mpg in the city and
36 mpg on the highway. At peak efficiency, the RAV4 Prime can travel up to 600 miles without refueling
or recharging. It can tow up to 2,500 pounds and has a maximum cargo area of 69.8 cubic feet (behind the
first row).

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio are part of both systems. The SE gets six speakers, while the XSE upgrades to a JBL audio system with 11 speakers. Both trims have access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and Toyota Connected Services (for Cloud Navigation, emergency assistance, and remote features).
