2025 Corolla Cross Hybrid
The Corolla Cross was born from the desire to give Corolla sedan devotees the increased versatility of a compact SUV. It’s built on the blueprint of the Corolla but with a more spacious cabin and a bit higher perch above the pavement. As the gas-electric version, the Corolla Cross Hybrid adds efficiency and power to this design, offering 196 combined net horsepower and returning up to 42 combined mpg (this outdoes the gas-only equivalent’s 169 horsepower and 32 combined mpg).
Electric on-demand all-wheel-drive (AWD) and a sport-tuned suspension give the Corolla Cross Hybrid a performance edge, providing added traction and more responsive handling. With 8 inches of ground clearance and 21.5 cubic feet of cargo space, it’s significantly more spacious than the Corolla Hybrid, which sits 5.3 inches off the ground and offers 13.1 cubic feet of storage. Like all new Toyotas, the 2025 Corolla Cross Hybrid comes with a ToyotaCare no-cost maintenance plan that covers regular factory-scheduled maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, and multipoint inspections) for two years or 25,000 miles. Two years (unlimited miles) of 24-hour roadside assistance is included as well.
Trims and Powertrain
The 2025 Corolla Cross Hybrid has four trim levels: S, SE, Nightshade, and XSE. Their power source is the union of a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and two electric motors (one on each axle), which combine to produce 196 horsepower and 139 lb.-ft. of torque. All trims achieve an EPA-estimated 45 mpg city and 38 mpg highway.
Toyota’s electronic on-demand all-wheel-drive (AWD) comes standard, as does an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission with paddle shifters. All trims get a sport-tuned independent MacPherson front suspension and double-wishbone multi-link rear suspension to optimize performance and handling. The Corolla Cross Hybrid can tow as much as 1,500 pounds.
Standard Equipment and Optional Packages
The S comes with fabric upholstery, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, a four-way manually adjustable front passenger seat, Smart Key with push-button start, touch-sensor lock and unlock on front doors and liftgate, remote keyless entry, two USB-C charge ports, front automatic single-zone air conditioning, rear HVAC vents, a 4.2-inch customizable instrument cluster, 60/40 split fold-flat second-row seats, LED projector headlights with auto off, matte-black heated power side-view mirrors, and 17-inch silver-colored sport-alloy wheels.
The SE adds wireless device charging, another pair of USB ports, auto-on/off LED projector headlights, variable front windshield wipers and an intermittent rear windshield wiper, gloss-black heated power side-view mirrors with integrated turn-signal and blind-spot warning indicators, black-painted roof rails, and privacy glass on the rear, side, quarter, and liftgate windows. It’s eligible for the Moonroof Package (moonroof and tonneau cover for the cargo area) and a two-tone exterior color with a black roof and rear spoiler.
The Nightshade adds a leather-trimmed steering wheel, trim-specific black and red upholstery with red contrast stitching, red contrast stitching on the shift boot, carpeted floor mats, and black exterior elements including roof-rail cross bars, accented headlights and taillights, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The XSE is loaded with mixed-media upholstery, heated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support, a 7-inch customizable instrument cluster display, front automatic dual-zone air conditioning, a frameless day/night rearview mirror with a universal HomeLink transceiver, a leather-trimmed shift boot, ambient interior lighting, a spider-style net and tonneau cover for the cargo area, a rear fold-down center armrest with two cup holders, LED taillights, LED fog lights, LED daytime running lights, and 18-inch sport alloy wheels with black-painted machined finish. The Convenience Package can be added for the contents of the Moonroof Package plus a power liftgate.
Safety
The Corolla Cross Hybrid comes with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which consists of full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, and proactive driving assist. The SE, Nightshade, and XSE enhance their safety systems with a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and safe exit alert, and the XSE alone includes an upgraded backup camera with dynamic gridlines and front and rear parking assist with automatic braking. Traction control and enhanced vehicle stability control also come standard, as do anti-lock brakes with brake assist, hill start assist, electronic brake-force distribution, Toyota’s SmartStop Technology, rear seat reminder, and a backup camera.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Every Corolla Cross Hybrid has an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, wireless smartphone connectivity (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), and SiriusXM satellite radio. A six-speaker audio setup is standard, but all trims above the base S can upgrade to a premium JBL sound system with nine speakers plus a subwoofer and amplifier. Toyota’s subscription-based Connected Services can be accessed on all Corolla Cross Hybrids, giving drivers access to amenities like Cloud Navigation, Wi-Fi, and remote engine start.
