2026 Toyota Crown
For 2026, the Crown retains its position as Toyota’s flagship sedan in the U.S. With its higher perch above the pavement and its alluring fastback silhouette, this model blends midsized comfort with the stance of a crossover. It blends a commanding road presence with ample space for five passengers. The standard gas-electric powertrain and available Hybrid MAX upgrade both come with all-wheel-drive.
All 2026 Crown trims present a roster of premium amenities, including leather upholstery, automatic climate control for the front row, and heated rear seats. These features add Lexus-like qualities at a Toyota price. The automaker also continues with the Nightshade Edition, which debuted last year, giving the Crown unique black-finished exterior styling for an even more eye-catching appearance. Yet the Crown is more than looks; as an example, the Platinum trim with the standard Hybrid MAX powertrain can reach 60 mph from a standstill in a rapid 5.7 seconds.

Trims and Powertrains
The 2026 Crown comes in four trim grades: XLE, Limited, Nightshade, and Platinum. The XLE, Limited, and Nightshade grades receive a hybrid powertrain that unites a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors – one for each axle – and generates a combined 236 horsepower. This system works with a continuously variable transmission. The Platinum features the Hybrid MAX powertrain, which combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with dual electric motors, producing 340 horsepower. It works with a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
The EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings are 42 mpg in city driving and 41 mpg on the highway for the XLE, Limited, and Nightshade. The more powerful Platinum returns 29 mpg around town and 32 mpg on the open road. The Crown has 15.2 cubic feet of trunk space.
Standard Features
The XLE includes leather seating, heated and ventilated eight-way power-adjustable front seats, heated rear seats that split 60/40, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control. It also gets a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, LED exterior lighting, heated power-folding side mirrors, noise-reducing glass for the windshield and front doors, wireless device charging, five USB ports (including two in the second row), an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Limited adds a panoramic fixed-glass roof with power sunshade, driver's-side memory, premium quad-LED headlights, and rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers. The Nightshade adds to the Limited’s features with unique exterior treatments like black accents, exclusive badging, and 21-inch wheels in matte-black. The Platinum includes rear-wheel steering (for improved maneuverability), an adaptive suspension, a head-up display, a power trunk with a hands-free kick sensor, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a digital key, and 21-inch alloy wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
All 2026 Crowns come with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, a well-rounded suite of advanced safety technologies that brings together adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning with steering assist, and lane tracing assist. Every trim also gets proactive driving assist (provides additional braking and steering assistance), road sign recognition, safe exit assist, automatic high beams, rear-seat reminder, eight airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, Smart Stop (to minimize unintended acceleration), hill start assist, and a rear-view monitor.
A few additional features are added onto the higher trims. Front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking are standard on all but the XLE. The Platinum also gets a surround-view camera, front cross-traffic alert, traffic jam assist, and lane change assist, which are optional on the Limited.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 12.3-inch touchscreen serve as the Crown’s infotainment hub. The system has wireless smartphone connectivity (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Access to Toyota connected services is also standard, providing cloud-based navigation, emergency support, remote vehicle features, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. The XLE has an unbranded six-speaker audio system, while the Limited, Nightshade, and Platinum upgrade to a high-quality JBL unit with eleven speakers.
