2025 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid
The 2025 Grand Highlander Hybrid continues to refine the three-row hybrid SUV formula with generous cargo space, a third row designed for adult-sized passengers, and a pair of gas-electric powertrains that don't sacrifice performance for fuel efficiency. The lineup has been expanded this model year with the value-packed LE base trim and the dark-themed Nightshade Edition, while the new Cement and Heavy Metal gray-tone paint colors joins the exterior finish choices. Plus, Toyota has made the removable second-row center console standard on the XLE and higher, adding more flexibility.

Trims, Powertrain, and Performance
The 2025 Grand Highlander Hybrid lineup consists of six trims: LE, XLE, Limited, Nightshade, MAX Limited, and MAX Platinum. The first four are equipped with a hybrid powertrain made up of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine, two electric motors, and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. This gas-electric powertrain has a maximum output of 245 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard on all but the XLE, which is the only trim that’s also offered with front-wheel drive (FWD).
The top two trims, MAX Limited and MAX Platinum, get a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder Hybrid MAX engine with an electric motor making a combined 362 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission and full-time electronic all-wheel drive complete the mechanical overview for these trims.
The FWD XLE achieves the SUV’s best fuel economy ratings with an EPA-estimated 37 mpg city/34 mpg highway. With AWD, the XLE and the three other non-MAX trims return an estimated 36 city/32 highway. The two MAX grades carry EPA-estimated fuel economy figures of 26 mpg city/27 mpg highway.
Every ‘25 Grand Highlander has a drive-mode selector with settings for Sport, Trail, EV, Eco, and Normal; the MAX powertrain gets an additional mode (Snow) and adds a multi-terrain select system with Rock & Dirt, Mud & Sand, and Normal settings. The two MAX trims can tow up to 5,000 pounds, while the other four trims draw their limit at 3,500 lb.
