2025 Toyota Sequoia
Toyota’s full-sized SUV, the Sequoia, retains its flagship status for 2025 with rugged body-on-frame architecture, thrilling hybrid power, and noteworthy capability. This three-row family hauler shares its platform with the Tundra pickup. Highlighting this year's updates is the introduction of the heritage-inspired 1794 Edition, which pays homage to the historic Texas ranch once located on site where Toyota now assembles both of those models.
Comfort receives increased attention with newly available massaging front-row seats on the premium trims. The Sequoia's technology credentials expand with the addition of an enhanced Tow Tech Package that simplifies trailer handling, especially during backing up. The 2025 Sequoia comes with ToyotaCare, providing complimentary standard scheduled maintenance and 24-hour roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles. In addition to the standard factory warranty, the Sequoia’s hybrid-related components are protected for eight years or 100,000 miles, while the hybrid battery is covered for ten years or 150,000 miles.

Trims and Powertrains
For model year 2025, the Sequoia lineup consists of six trims: the SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone. They all have Toyota's i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, pairing a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 with an electric motor positioned between the engine and transmission. This system generates a robust 437 combined horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque, channeled through a ten-speed automatic transmission. The SR5 and Limited offer standard rear-wheel drive (RWD), with four-wheel drive (4WD) optional. The Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone come exclusively with 4WD.
The fuel efficiency figures vary by drivetrain. With RWD, the Sequoia achieves an EPA-estimated 21 mpg around town and 24 mpg on the highway. With 4WD, the numbers are slightly lower at 19 city/22 highway. The hybrid powertrain prioritizes electric operation below 18 mph when conditions permit, boosting fuel efficiency.
The sliding third-row seats create a flexible cargo area that ranges from 11.5 to 22.3 cubic feet, with all seats upright. Folding the third row flat will expand that capacity to 49 cubic feet, while dropping both rear rows opens up 86.9 cubic feet for cargo. A properly equipped Sequoia’s maximum towing capacity reaches up to 9,520 pounds, depending on the trim.
Standard Features and Options
The eight-passenger SR5 gets substantial standard amenities, including a power moonroof, triple-zone automatic climate control, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, proximity keyless entry, and a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. It also has fabric upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button start, heated power side mirrors with built-in turn indicators, LED interior lighting, a Class-IV hitch receiver and wiring harness, USB ports, and 18-inch alloy wheels. This base trim is eligible for the TRD Off-Road Package (4WD only) with enhanced suspension, underbody protection, and terrain management features. The Premium Package will add SofTex leatherette upholstery, a hands-free power liftgate, and power-folding third-row seats.
The Limited takes a big step up with heated and ventilated front seats, SofTex upholstery, a heated steering wheel, position memory (driver), trim-specific exterior treatments, and 20-inch alloy wheels. Its list of options includes a panoramic power moonroof, the TRD Off-Road Package, power running boards, and a panoramic glass roof. The Platinum transitions to a seven-passenger layout with second-row captain's chairs, which are heated and ventilated along with the first-row seats. This upscale trim also adds leather upholstery, massaging front seats, heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, a panoramic moonroof, upgraded LED headlights, ambient cabin lighting, and wireless device charging. Its available enhancements include the TRD Off-Road Package, load-leveling rear height control air suspension, and power running boards.
The adventure-ready TRD Pro expands the Limited’s amenities list and adds comprehensive off-road equipment, like TRD-tuned FOX internal bypass shocks, selectable locking rear differential, a 1/4-inch aluminum front skid plate, and driver terrain control. Its SofTex upholstery has camouflage-patterned inserts while the exterior gets specialized LED lighting, an integrated light bar, and a signature dual-outlet exhaust. The options for this trim include a panoramic roof and power-extending towing mirrors. New for 2025, the 1794 Edition celebrates Toyota's Texas manufacturing heritage. It starts with the Platinum’s list of luxuries and adds authentic American walnut interior trim and exclusive design treatments inside and out.
At the pinnacle of the range, the Capstone trim further refines the Platinum’s formula. This Sequoia spoils its passengers with semi-aniline leather upholstery, ten-way power front seats, third-row 60/40 split-folding power seats, unique exterior treatments, and 22-inch alloy wheels. It’s eligible for a rear air suspension, among other options.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
Every ’25 Sequoia has the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite as standard equipment. This driver-assist bundle brings together forward collision prevention with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering correction, lane centering assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Also standard are blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a surround-view monitor, trailer merge warning, and front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking. A head-up display is added to the Capstone and is optional on the Platinum and 1794. All trims receive a rearview monitor, an array of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and traction control.
Multimedia and Connectivity
The Sequoia's advanced infotainment system centers around a user-friendly touchscreen. The SR5’s screen spans 8 inches, while the higher grades (and the SR5 Premium Package) upgrade to a 14-inch touchscreen. Every Sequoia gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and access to Toyota Connected Services (including cloud-based navigation, emergency assistance, and remote features). The SR5 and Limited have a sound system with eight speakers that’s upgraded to a 14-speaker JBL arrangement in the higher trims.
