2024 Toyota RAV4 in Framingham

2024 Toyota RAV4

The 2024 Toyota RAV4 brings together everything most people want in a vehicle: function, efficiency, and style. That's why it's no surprise that the RAV4 has been America's favorite crossover for six years running. This ever-practical Toyota provides ample accommodations for five, along with room for groceries or gear. It even gets as much as 35 mpg, saving its drivers considerable cash versus other vehicles.

At the same time, a chiseled exterior with strong vertical lines gives the RAV4 bold and dynamic looks, especially now that there's an option for a two-tone paint job. It's one way that helps set it apart in the crowded compact crossover segment. Distinctiveness also comes from six trim choices, including the extra-capable TRD Off-Road and the upscale Limited trims.

Trims and Powertrain

There are six versions of the 2024 RAV4: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited. They all get an efficient powertrain consisting of a 203-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard on the Adventure and TRD Off-Road and optional on the other four trims, which get front-wheel drive by default.

The EPA-estimated fuel economy for FWD-equipped RAV4s ranges from 27-28 mpg in the city and 34-35 mpg on the open road (varies by trim). With AWD, the RAV4 is rated for 25-27 mpg around town and 32-34 mpg on the highway. The maximum towing capacity is 1,500 pounds for all but the Adventure and TRD Off-Road, which can pull up to 3,500 lb. You'll have 69.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the front row and up to 37.6 cubic feet in the cargo area.

Standard Features and Major Optional Packages

The LE starts with remote keyless entry, fabric upholstery, manual climate control, LED exterior lighting with automatic headlights, rear privacy glass, power side mirrors, a 7-inch driver information display, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, and 17-inch steel wheels with covers. The XLE expands the comfort and convenience features with proximity keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear seat vents, an eight-way power driver's seat, push-button start, heater power side mirrors with integrated turn indicators, roof rails, a cargo cover, variable intermittent windshield wipers, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Buyers of this trim can elect to add the Weather Package (a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers) and the Convenience Package (a power liftgate and a power moonroof).

The XLE Premium has all the equipment of the XLE with the Convenience Package plus SofTex upholstery, LED fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, soft-touch interior accents, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The available XLE Premium Weather Package adds a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, driver's seat memory, and rain-sensing wipers. The rugged Adventure trim gets standard AWD but otherwise shares much of the same features with the XLE. It also gets black-themed exterior treatments (including large overfenders), unique interior accents, and 19-inch wheels. This trim is also eligible for the Weather and Convenience Packages.

The even more rugged TRD Off-Road gives the RAV4 capabilities beyond the pavement thanks to a TRD-tuned suspension, a stainless-steel front skid plate, and 18-inch flow-formed alloy wheels with Falken all-terrain tires. Its other amenities are a power moonroof, a power liftgate, exclusive cabin accents, and unique exterior treatments. The Weather Package can be added for heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and rain-sensing wipers.

At the top of the list, the Limited satisfies those who want the most upscale RAV4. It complements the XLE Premium's features with heated front seats, Bi-LED headlights, a 12.3-inch driver information display, a digital rearview mirror, ambient interior lighting, and dark-brown cabin accents. At this level, the options include the Weather Package (heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear outboard seats, and rain-sensing wipers) and the Advanced Technology Package (a power moonroof, a power liftgate, enhanced proximity keyless entry, a surround-view monitor, and wireless device charging).

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Toyota's Safety Sense 2.5 collection of driver-assist features is standard in every 2024 RAV4. It includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available for the LE and included on the other trims. The Limited gets front and rear parking assist with automatic braking, which is optional with the XLE Premium and TRD Off-Road. All trims get a full array of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, Smart Stop Technology (to prevent unintended acceleration), and a rearview monitor.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The lower trims get the default infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, while a 10.5-inch touchscreen is standard in the TRD-Off Road and Limited (it's also an available upgrade for the XLE Premium and Adventure). All trims get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, and a sound system, which has six speakers in all but the Limited, which is loaded with an 11-speaker JBL sound system (this upgrade is available on all of the lower trims except the LE). Access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and Toyota Connected Services (for Cloud Navigation, emergency support, and remote features) comes standard with all.
