2026 Toyota
Prius

Since its groundbreaking debut for model year 2000, the Toyota Prius has led the charge in hybrid innovation – and the 2026 model is no exception. Now more advanced and efficient than ever, the current Prius generation upholds the standard for eco-friendly driving. With its modern, aerodynamic design, advanced technology features, and remarkable fuel efficiency courtesy of the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System, the ‘26 Prius is the right choice for anyone who wants to reduce their carbon footprint without sacrificing performance or style.

Every ‘26 Prius also comes with ToyotaCare, a no-cost maintenance plan that covers factory-scheduled services (oil and filter changes, tire rotations, and multipoint inspections) for 2 years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. For added peace of mind, buyers will like knowing that Toyota also includes a hybrid system warranty (good for 8 years/100,000 miles) and a battery warranty lasting 10 years/150,000 miles.

Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Economy

The ‘26 Prius is a modern-looking and well-built gas-electric hatchback available in four trims: LE, XLE, Nightshade, and Limited. Under the hood of each is the highly efficient fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System, which pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an advanced electric motor system. This innovative hybrid powertrain produces a total system output of 194 horsepower with front-wheel drive (FWD), or 196 horsepower with the available Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. All trims come with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT) and a compact lithium-ion battery.

Fuel economy is where the Prius gets a big golf star, as the LE FWD leads the pack with an impressive EPA-estimated 57 mpg in the city and 56 mpg on the highway. The other trims achieve 52 mpg city/52 mpg highway with FWD, while the AWD-equipped LE returns 53 mpg city/54 mpg highway. AWD versions of the XLE, Nightshade, and Limited trims still offer outstanding efficiency, with ratings of 49 mpg city/50 mpg highway.
