2024 Toyota 4Runner in Framingham
2024 Toyota 4Runner
If your first instinct after seeing the Toyota 4Runner is an off-road adventure, you’re headed in the right direction. This long-popular SUV is steeped in ruggedness, and it’s equipped with specialized features that inspire its driver to take through the dust clouds, across rutted trails, and up and down rocky inclines. After all, it’d be a shame to let the available four-wheel drive, a Multi-Terrain Select system, and Crawl Control technology go unused. But when you consider the 4Runner’s choice of a two-row or three-row interior (SR5 and Limited), and standard entry-level features such as a power liftgate, power rear glass, 8-inch touchscreen, and various Toyota Safety Sense technologies, this modern yet old-school SUV can handle your day-to-day life just as easily as it can take on the most challenging terrain. What’s new for this model year? The 2024 4Runner welcomes two new paint choices to its lineup, including the gray-shaded Underground and the TRD Pro-exclusive Terra—a fitting earth tone.

Trims and Powertrain
The 2024 4Runner suits adventure-ready buyers in a diverse mix of seven trim levels: SR5, TRD Sport, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, and TRD Pro. This lineup is driven by a 4.0-liter V6 engine paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, a powertrain capable of producing up to 270 horsepower and 278 lb.-ft. of torque, and it has a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. Every 4Runner with “TRD” in the name (except for the TRD Sport) has standard four-wheel drive (4x4), while the other trims have standard two-wheel drive (4x2) with the 4x4 drivetrain available.
Standard Features
The SR5 has an important distinction: the interior can have two rows with seating for up to five
passengers or it can have three rows with seating for up to seven. Its standard equipment includes a
smart key system with push-button start and remote illuminated entry, an Optitron instrumentation LCD
display, cloth-upholstered seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s
seat, three USB ports (one front-row, two second-row), three power outlets (two 12-volt DC, one 120-volt
AC), LED lighting (headlights/fog lights/taillights/center high-mount stop light), heated power outside
mirrors, a windshield wiper de-icer, power rear glass, a power liftgate with auto up/down and jam
protection, roof rails, front/rear mudguards, 17-inch alloy wheels, and skid plates across the front
suspension, fuel tank, engine, and – in 4x4 versions – the transfer case.
The TRD Sport moves up
to 20-inch split 6-spoke alloy wheels and SofTex upholstery with “TRD” gray lettering on the front
headrests. Its other enhancements include a color-keyed TRD hood scoop and a trim-specific shift knob,
carpeted floor mats, and C-pillar badging. The SR5 Premium gains a heated steering wheel, heated front
seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, integrated turn-signal indicators on the heated power outside
mirrors, a four-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, and an accessory net in the cargo
area.
The TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium get 17-inch alloy wheels with a 7-spoke
matte-black design, but trail performance is what sets these two apart from the aforementioned trims,
thanks to features such as standard 4WD, Multi-Terrain Select (MTS), Crawl Control (CRAWL), a locking
rear differential, and higher ground clearance (9.6 inches vs. 9.0 inches). The differentiator between
these trims is that the TRD-Off Road Premium upgrades from cloth upholstery to SofTex with “TRD” red
lettering on the front headrests.
The Limited, like the SR5, gives its buyers the choice of a
two-row or three-row configuration, but with top-of-the-line standard features such as perforated
leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, ventilated and heated front seats, an 8-way
power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory settings, dual-zone automatic climate control, a JBL premium
audio system, and a power moonroof with sunshade. This high-end trim’s exterior is distinguished by
20-inch split 6-spoke alloy wheels, chrome exterior badges, chrome inserts within the grille and rocker
panels, and chrome door handles with touch-sensor lock/unlock functionality. As mentioned, the Limited
can be had as a two-row or While the TRD Pro has most of the same premium amenities as the Limited, its
mechanical differences make it a unique beast. Those items include a standard 4x4 drivetrain, 9.6 inches
of ground clearance, a locking rear differential, MTS, CRAWL, FOX high-performance shocks with rear
remote reservoirs, TRD-tuned front springs, all-terrain tires, and a Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM) with
selectable front, side, and rear views. The TRD Pro’s exterior has a unique “TOYOTA” grille,
high-performance LED fog lights, a TRD-stamped aluminum front skid plate, a black rooftop basket, and
“TRD PRO” badging. The cabin comes well-appointed with a power moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate
control, a 15-speaker JBL audio system, SofTex upholstery, “TRD” in red lettering on the driver’s and
passenger’s headrests, all-weather floor liners, and a TRD shift knob.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
Toyota Safety Sense P is installed in every 2024 4Runner. This suite of driver-assist and active safety technologies consists of dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, and automatic high beams. All trims also have daytime running lights, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and rear occupancy alert. The Limited gains front and rear parking assist sonar and swaps out the standard backup camera for a panoramic view monitor with 360-degree overhead view and curb view. Every trim gets the Star Safety System (traction control, vehicle stability control, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, and smart stop technology).
Infotainment and Connectivity
The standard multimedia system onboard the SR5 uses an 8-inch touchscreen to manage the following feature set: Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free phone and streaming, advanced voice recognition, a 3-month SiriusXM Platinum Plan, and trial subscriptions to Toyota’s Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Wi-Fi Connect services. The SR5 Premium and TRD Off-Road Premium carry the Premium Audio system, which adds Amazon Alexa compatibility, HD Radio, and dynamic navigation with up to a 3-year trial of dynamic voice recognition and dynamic points-of-interest search. The Limited and TRD Pro have the JBL Premium Audio system with 15 speakers, a subwoofer, and an amplifier, as well as trial access to Toyota’s Remote Connect service.
