2024 Toyota Crown
Offering gas-electric versions of top-selling conventional vehicle models appeals to car buyers because
they’ve long been familiar with those nameplates. And while Toyota has seen plenty of success following
that path, they also build uniquely named electrified vehicles like the Prius, bZ4X, and Crown. This is
a truly original sedan with its raised suspension, crossover-like silhouette, and an optional two-tone
paint job.
The 2024 Crown has been compared to Toyota’s luxury sibling, the Lexus ES, thanks in
part to a massive 12.3-inch color touchscreen, available heated and ventilated leather seats,
sophisticated design cues, and an uncommonly comfortable cabin with high solar energy-absorbing glass
and an acoustic noise-reducing windshield and front side windows. Toyota’s commitment to safety remains
stronger than ever for the Crown, as the Platinum trim now has standard lane change assist, front
cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist. Plus, the Limited comes with an Advanced Tech Package that
will add all those previously mentioned safety features along with a panoramic view monitor, digital key
capability, and 21-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels.

Trims and Powertrains
The all-wheel-drive 2024 Crown has a simple three-trim lineup consisting of the XLE, Limited, and
Platinum. The first two trims are outfitted with a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder engine (236
horsepower and 163 lb.-ft. of net torque), an electronically controlled continuously variable
transmission, and a 230.4-volt battery pack to power the electric motors. According to the EPA, the XLE
and Limited achieve 42 mpg in city driving and 41 mpg on the highway.
The Platinum trim gets a
Hybrid MAX 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that puts out 340 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of net
torque. The rest of its powertrain consists of a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 230.4-volt
battery. This trim’s EPA-estimated fuel economy is 29 mpg city/32 mpg highway.
Standard and Available Features
The XLE comes with wireless smartphone charging, a 12.3-inch multi-information display screen, dual-zone
automatic climate control, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, fabric seating surfaces with
synthetic leather trim, heated 8-way power-adjustable driver’s and passenger’s seats, an auto-dimming
rearview mirror with HomeLink, four USB-C charge ports (two front/two rear), and a USB-A charge port and
12-volt/120-watt auxiliary power outlet (both located in the front console). Some of this base trim’s
exterior highlights are a touch-sensor lock/unlock feature on the front door handles and trunk, heated
power-folding mirrors, 19-inch machine-finished alloy wheels, and LED lighting throughout the projector
headlights (bi-LED), daytime running lights, taillights, and brake lights.
The Limited adds
leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, memory settings for the driver’s seat, heated
rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic fixed-glass roof with power sunshade, rain-sensing
windshield wipers, quad-LED projector headlights, and smart key sensors on all of the doors, plus
illuminated entry. The appearance-driven Platinum is eligible for 21-inch dark metallic alloy wheels
(via the optional Advanced Tech Package) and an available bi-tone exterior that couples one of five
paint choices with a blacked-out front, roof, and rear fascia.
Advanced Safety Technology
Every ’24 Crown has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 installed. This advanced driver-assist tech suite consists of
automatic high beams, road sign assist, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert with steering assist,
dynamic radar cruise control, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Also standard are a
blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, a vehicle proximity notification system, rear seat
reminder, safe exit assist, whiplash-injury-lessening seats in front, and collision sensors to
deactivate the high-voltage battery in the event of a collision.
The Limited gets front/rear
parking assist with automatic braking, and the optional Advanced Tech Package will add a panoramic view
monitor with 360-degree overhead view, traffic jam assist, front cross-traffic alert, and lane change
assist (all of which are standard equipment on the Platinum). Advanced park is standard solely on the
Platinum, enabling hands-free assistance for backing in and parallel parking.
Infotainment
At the center of every ‘24 Crown is a 12.3-inch color touchscreen to help manage the features, which include wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The Limited and Platinum upgrade to a JBL premium audio system with 11 speakers, amplifier, and subwoofer.
