2024 Toyota Grand Highlander in Framingham
2024 Toyota Grand Highlander
It’s been nearly two decades since the 2006 Toyota Highlander was first made available with a hybrid powertrain. Now, with the introduction of the 2024 Grand Highlander, the automaker offers a larger and more luxurious version of the nameplate, with this one also offering a gas-electric powertrain. It will slot between the Highlander and the Sequoia, with a choice of three distinct powertrains, an extensive roster of standard features, and plenty of upscale options.

Modern and Fresh.
This newest Toyota model is tailor-made for families (it seats up to eight) and has a design that’s modern and fresh throughout. Its front view is dominated by a trapezoidal grille, while wide C-pillars define the back end. Although the Highlander and Grand Highlander share a platform, the latter has more space and higher capability – not to mention a third row where adults won’t feel cramped, thanks to ample headroom and legroom, plus extra-large rear windows.
Mechanical Specs and Capacity
The Grand Highlander’s three trim levels are XLE, Limited, and Platinum. The base engine is a
turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder, while a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powerplant will be
available. While both of those can be paired with either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive
(AWD), the 362-hp Hybrid MAX system is only offered on AWD versions of the Grand Highlander.
According to Toyota’s official information, the Hybrid MAX is capable of a zero-to-60 mph time of
6.3 seconds.
This beautiful vehicle is drawing much attention with its abundant interior
space for people and their stuff. Folding the second and third rows opens up 97.5 cubic feet of
maximum cargo area. With the available Hybrid MAX powertrain, it can also tow up to 5,000 pounds. A
1,500-watt accessory outlet comes with either of the two gas-electric powertrains for powering
external devices off the Grand Highlander’s battery.
Standard and Available Equipment
The XLE is a well-stocked base trim, with rooftop rails, keyless entry, push-button ignition, a power
liftgate, heated exterior mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Its
seats are upholstered in Softex simulated leather and heated in the front row, with 10-way power
adjustability for the driver and 8-way adjustments for the front passenger. The second row can be
ordered with a three-person bench or a pair of captain’s chairs; this row is equipped with sunshades
on the windows.
The Limited upgrades to leather upholstery, 20-inch alloy wheels, a heated
steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated middle-row seats, a driver’s position
memory system, a hands-free liftgate, power-folding heated exterior mirrors, LED fog lights, ambient
interior lighting, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and puddle lamps. Topping the hierarchy is the
Platinum trim, which adds ventilated second-row seats, a panoramic moonroof, a head-up display, and
20-inch alloy wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
Toyota Safety Sense (TSS 3.0) adds these standard features to every 2024 Grand Highlander: automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, and proactive driving assist, which enhances braking and distance control). Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard as well. Front and rear parking sensors (with automatic braking) are added to the Limited and Platinum; the Platinum alone gets front cross-traffic alert, a digital rearview mirror, a surround-view monitor, and access to traffic jam assist services.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Grand Highlander’s infotainment dominates the dash with its 12.3-inch touchscreen. It’s used to control the smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto), Bluetooth, the sound system (the two higher trims get an upgrade to a JBL unit with 11 speakers), and SiriusXM satellite radio. Wireless device charging is also standard, along with seven USB ports. Cloud Navigation services and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and Toyota Connected Services (for emergency assistance, remote vehicle monitoring, and additional features) comes standard as well.
